On Thursday August 4, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the City of Sacramento will present the African American Experience Project at the Sacramento Youth Center Theatre: 1901 Del Paso Blvd.
The City of Sacramento is seeking public participation in its effort to document the history of African Americans in Sacramento. This grant-funded project calls for both detailed historical research, collecting oral history and historical documents, and the production of a thematic historic context that documents the historical African American experience in Sacramento. Community involvement in the project is essential for ensuring accurate and complete documentation of Sacramento’s African American history. The project completion is anticipated to be in the summer of 2023.
The event is open to the public and is intended to provide information and allow for questions and comments. This is the first in a series of public meetings regarding the project.

Sandwiches and water will be provided to those in attendance.
