GRAND RAPIDS, MI – The first weekend of ArtPrize 2023 is in the books.
From giant bubbles to fireworks, crowds have turned out to see artwork, musical performances and try the local cuisine as part of the 18-day international art competition in downtown Grand Rapids that runs through Oct. 1.
Just under 700 entries will be on display at 150 venues throughout downtown Grand Rapids, including museums, parks, businesses, offices and more. All entries can be viewed free of charge. There is a total of $400,000 in prize money, with the public vote, grand prize winner taking home $150,000.
This year marks the first time the event is being held under a new leadership team, coined ArtPrize 2.0., consisting of Downtown Grand Rapids Inc., the city of Grand Rapids and Kendall College of Art and Design of Ferris State University.
Visitors with mobile smartphones can sign up to vote through ArtPrize’s website on mobile smartphones. Voting is done through the ArtPrize mobile website by scanning an entry’s QR code and voting for it. To sign up to vote, visit experience.artprize.org/vote.
On Friday, Sept. 22, there will be an announcement of the top 25 entries.
